Discover These Health Tips Offered By Kent WA Chiropractic Office

By Carmella Isenhour

The Kent Chiropractor team put these tips together to keep you healthy and safe during the holidays. 1. Be careful when you will be traveling a lot. A large majority of people make plans to travel during the holidays, meaning they will be sitting for long periods of time in a plane, car or bus.

This often causes pain and stiffness in your spine. Do this to minimize the damage. Stand up and stretch or walk to help avoid a stiff back. Check your seat cushions and take along a good back support pillow to keep your spine straight. This will also improve your comfort during long periods of sitting in a seat.

An adhesive heat patch can help maintain your muscles loose and prevent stiffness.

2. New environments can be dangerous, so be alert. Be sure to check out the room or house and note potential problems before you settle down.

Since everything is different from what you are used to, it is much easier to trip and fall when you forget about a throw rug on the floor or an end table by the couch. Environmental changes can also be problematic when you travel long distances. Ice, freezing snow or even rain can cause hazards you are not accustomed to when you are out walking or traveling. Just be careful, watch where you are going and move slower than you would at home.

3. Don't forget your supplies. If you are visiting family out of town for the holidays make sure you have your go to medical and supply bag handy. Pack all your medications and pain pills. Bring your cane or walker if you have one in case you have a flare up. Wear you back brace if you need to. And don't be afraid to tell family that might need to take it easy for a little while after you arrive.

You will enjoy your trip more by taking the time necessary to care for your personal health needs. Be sure you have what you need to take care of yourself.
